On Friday morning the Continental Village Fire Department was dispatched to a residence on Steuben Road for a house struck by lightning with a possible basement fire. Upon arrival 14-1-1 reported smoke showing and requested a 10-75/working fire assignment. The first due engine arrived moments later and firefighters stretched a line into the structure, located the fire in a basement laundry room and quickly extinguished it before it could extend from the room. Continental Village FD would like to thank Putnam Valley, Buchanan, Peekskill, Mohegan, North Highlands, and Cold Spring Fire Departments and Garrison Ambulance for their assistance in mitigating this emergency.
