On Thursday night the Continental Village Fire Department was dispatched to a home on Ferris drive for a reported chimney fire. Upon arrival firefighters found a active chimney fire and went to work extinguishing the fire in the fireplace and checking for extension. Peekskill FD was requested to the scene with their ladder truck to access the chimney and Garrison FD was requested to provide additional manpower. Firefighters dropped chains down the chimney to breakup the burning debris that wa stuck in the chimney and then removed it from the rear of the fireplace. Firefighters returned to service after all fire was out and no extension was found.
